21% of cookie sales are given to three local organizations (7% to each) . each organization works directly on a daily basis with the immigrant community of portland and chosen for their aid at varying stages: welcome, education, and community.
way of life mission
provides basic needs to individuals and families who have just re-settled in maine. a big part of the organization seeks to equip individual volunteers in connecting with the international community via home visits to assess and meet needs of families. the goal of way of life is to establish and build relationships in a tangible way.

portland adult education
and the friends of portland adult education's mission is to "inspire lifelong learning in a culturally diverse environment." situated alongside catholic charities maine (the governmental resettlement agency for the city of portland), portland adult ed provides a wide array of educational programs for adults. the aim is to educate new mainers and locals alike in english learning, business/job preparation, high school diploma certification, the liberal arts, math, and science.

the root cellar portland
is located in the heart of the kennedy park area of portland, a community center that serves neighboring youth and their families. their programs include: after-school programs for kids, complimentary dental clinic for both kids and adults, weekly meals, and clothing and food distributions. the goal of the root cellar is to serve simply and empower individuals to live wholly.
